Hello I'm Darlene! I am a somatic psychotherapist, Mom, Grandma, and founder of Ascent Counseling. It's my mission to support individuals, couples, and families who desire a more joyful life through hope, healing, health, self-awareness, and understanding in order to build stronger relationships with themselves and others.
I am a Licensed Addictions Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Colorado. I received my Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a Specialization in Addictions and Recovery from Liberty University, Virginia and my Masters in Clinical Mental Health from Adams State University in Colorado.
I support individuals, couples, and families who desire a more joyful life through hope, healing, health, self-awareness, and understanding in order to build stronger relationships with themselves and others.
I have worked in a variety of roles in mental health for the past ten years. I was the clinical Director for Women's Recovery, the leading and innovative women's specific, intrauma integrated, dual diagnosis intensive outpatient program in the country. Before opening my own treatment agency I enjoyed working as a therapist at The Center for Mental Health in Gunnison, Colorado counseling as a general practitioner specializing in Substance Use Disorders and Trauma Therapy. I also worked with clients as a primary therapist in a residential treatment facility at the Women’s Recovery Center in Grand Junction CO, specializing in holistic recovery.
I have also worked for Juvenile Services in the Gunnison Valley with high risk youth as well as provided counseling services through private practice and for Oh Be Joyful Church in Crested Butte and the Community Church of Gunnison.

Hi, I'm Erica! I'm an author, speaker, coach, Mom, and passionate about people and businesses getting after their goals! That's why I created Spark Your Spark!
As a mindset and accountability coach who went from obesity to marathoner, I know all about what it takes to truly ignite your fire within and get after whatever it is that you want to achieve. And, in the process of "achievement," it's really all about who we become along the way! That's what inspired me to develop the Marathon Mindset system for pursuing goals, and publish "Marathon Mindset: Get After Your Goals," launching in April of 2025.
As an Oola Certified Life Coach and Oola Certified Mind & Body Coach, I have served clients in both group and 1:1 settings to support the mind and body becoming a stronger team in pursuit of their goals.
My formal education is a B.S. in Recreation Resource & Ski Resort Management with a minor in Marketing from Lyndon State College (now Northern Vermont University). After getting my dream job in my early twenties, I navigated onto my own marketing consulting agency after having kids. In that time, I took ownership of my health, found a passion for helping people and businesses through coaching, speaking, and being a catalyst of positivity to help people pursue their goals!
